Hunter - For far too long and under presidents of both parties, Congress has abdicated its responsibility as the sole branch of government with the authority to declare war. So what's happened is that the wars authorized in Afghanistan and Iraq have evolved in size and scope to a number of other countries. And in all that time, Congress has remained silent. But something changed at the end of the last Congress. Led by Senators Bernie Sanders, Chris Murphy, and Mike Lee along with Congressman Ro Khanna, Congress voted to end our involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen. It passed the House and it passed the Senate. But because the bills had slight differences, we have to do it again in THIS Congress for it to get to Trump's desk. The House took action. Now the Senate must. And we want to carry a message to your Senators about it: Sign VoteVets' petition: tell the Senate to debate, vote, and PASS legislation introduced by Senator Sanders, Murphy, and Lee to end the United States' involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen. https://main-votevets.bsd.net/page/signup/yemen-petition-2019 The United States' role in this humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen is a great moral stain on our nation. Congress' silence in its face is a great shame as well. It's time for a vote. So thanks for making your voice heard.
