Just wanted to give you an update.

Folks in the white house counsel's office spoke with u of d's general
counsel this morning. I was not on the call, but the message I got back was
it was not a great call.

Between you and me, I am a bit saddened. I know what I can do and it upsets
me that they seem to be more focused on what I maybe cannot do, than what I
absolutely can do.

I can talk to the members of the general assembly, I can work on approps
requests, I can speak to the congressional offices, I can be at the table
for all conversations to offer a government relations/strategic perspective
and I can dig deep into the manner in which u of d makes and prioritizes
grant requests from the agencies. I can be a help with Biden building.

I cannot call a political appointee and lobby on behalf of the university!

You have been so helpful and I just wanted to say thanks. I don't want to
pester them, but I don't see the next steps either. Sadly, I don't want to
give up just yet. Glutten for punishment, I am. Last bits of advice for me?
