Subject: Preparing For Our Trip


Dear Friends,


It's hard to believe, but we're less than two weeks away from our
departure for Ethiopia and Ghana. We've got a great trip coming together
and I'm looking forward to discussing it with you during our conference
call this Friday. Thank you again for devoting so much time to exploring
these important issues.


A couple things you can expect from us this week:


* Tomorrow you will receive a comprehensive briefing book that
includes travel and logistics information, weather and clothing
advisories, an itinerary, scene setter memo, maps, country overviews,
policy backgrounders, bios of participants and site visit overviews.


* On Friday at 3pm EDT, we will have a conference call to go
over the briefing book, run through the latest schedule and answer any
of your questions. I encourage you to dial-in to this call if you can.

One final note on media. As I've mentioned to many of you, the goal of
this trip is not to make news as we travel but to listen and learn
quietly. You will have the opportunity to capture your reflections
throughout the trip using video and blog posts on ONE.org. We are
developing a special web feature that will hopefully make our trip
interesting for people who are watching from home, and maybe even
ourselves. ONE staff will help facilitate, and even draft or edit, any
video or blog posting you wish to do from the field. Finally, since we
will be in Ghana just three weeks before President Obama visits, we
would like to take advantage of media interest when we return. We will
be in touch in the days ahead about post trip media and briefing
opportunities.
