Hunter - Have you heard anything from Amtrak or other sources about date for HSR announcement consistent with the info below? Please do not use HNTB as source of info with any external sources. Thx. ________________________________ From: John Parola To: Todd Schultz Sent: Wed Jan 20 08:35:04 2010 Subject: RE: Tier one, Tier two awards & more Sources we talk to. While at Amtrak yesterday they told Joe Guzzi the 27th there would be an announcement in alignment with Obama state of the union speech. While this elicited some laughter, it was clear the Administrator and his team were not going to provide any hints to create speculation on the timing of the announcements. There is no way to find out what states will be the winners as this is a very closely guarded bit of information that the whole country is seeking. My guess is that the FRA will give very short advance notice to the congressional delegations and governors and that’s about it. Nevertheless, we’ve asked our DC consultant to keep his ear to the ground with the congressional staff to try to get an advance notice, no matter how small. I think it would be most realistic to expect that we will find out at the same time as everyone else – and there’s no timetable now except “winter”. Sorry there’s not any more news to report. Also, can you utilize our GR for information as to if CDOT will receive any funding or not.
