Hunter, Thanks for your email. Susan and I are looking forward to seeing you and meeting Kathleen and of course, all of Spain is eagerly awaiting the Vice President's visit. As you know, there is a huge amount of preparation for this event, and it may have been a blessing that I'm traveling this week so as not to get underfoot. I had the good fortune of being invited to speak at a conference at Harvard, in my hometown, on US-Spain business opportunities. I'm now headed to D.C. and then on to Madrid. We completely understand about your accommodations although you have a standing invitation to stay at the residence on any future trip to Madrid. One message to pass on to you and your father. Right now, the schedule has him doing a "meet and greet" at our residence shortly after arrival. The evening, as far as I know, is free of official events. Susan and I would love to invite you and your wife, your father and any other members of the traveling party to dinner at the residence on Friday night. We have a great chef, but we can keep it informal and relaxed as I'm told that is your father's preference. (Mark Gittenstein shared with me he likes pasta and red sauce!). If this doesn't work, we do understand. I know the advance staff is scouting restaurants although if that's the direction you go in, you may want Susan's input as she is now an expert on that subject. In any event, we'd welcome the opportunity to host you for dinner and to spend some relaxed time talking about this great country and some of its challenges. You can reach me thru this email or if need be by mobile 34 690 873 583. Best, Alan ________________________________ From: Hunter Biden <[email protected]> To: Solomont, Alan D. Unfortunately, I think we are slated to stay at the Intercontinental since it’s hard to get outside of his bubble and get back in. I wish we were staying longer. Regardless, I am excited to see you and introduce you and Mrs. Solomont to my wife Kathleen. If you need anything in the meantime or think I can help in any way please let me know. Best, Hunter. R. Subject: Madrid visit Hunter: I was very pleased to hear that you will accompany your father, the Vice President, on his upcoming visit to Spain. We are eagerly looking forward to his visit. It will be a great boost to an already strong U.S.-Spain relationship. My wife Susan and I would like to extend an invitation to you and your wife to stay at the residence while you are in Madrid. I don’t know if your schedule is the same as the Vice President’s, but you’d be welcome to stay with us for as long as you are here. In any event, I look forward to seeing you in Madrid.
