Dan, Regarding fees: this should be a high class problem. Let's get them excited about the firm first, then when they offer you money, you can always say no or negotiate then. It's up to you. During my meeting with CIC, the priority issue with everyone we met was: how can we put money to work? They are getting an additional $200 Billion before year's end. I am working on the next steps, but you are already teed up for at least a call (if not a meeting at your office). I will find out more shortly. I made clear to them, that we don't make concessions on fees or terms or do managed accounts. Monday starts the May Day holiday in China. I would expect all of the senior people at the funds we visited to be away for the week. We are working with Marc (and Josh) regarding China and they are up to date with what we are doing on behalf of our clients there. We have people on the ground through our relationship with the Thornton Group and Jonathan Li (you met Jim Bulger Chairman of the Thornton Group and Jonathan Li in your office a few months ago) who have great relationships with the funds we visited in China . For now, only CIC has the ability to invest overseas. However, both the Social Security Fund and China Life expect to get approval in the fall. They want investments teed up prior to getting their approval so they are ready to make allocations "on day one". We spoke about all of our clients to the different groups, but Third Point is the fund CIC wants to move forward with first. I don't know if it's the strategy, performance, or you (or a combination of everything). I have requested more information. I believe CIC is coming to the US sometime in May however I don't know which group, the hedge fund group or private equity group. If appropriate, CIC will see you on that trip. For now, I would suggest that Marc has his call with Roslyn. I will contact Jim Bulger today and get an answer to your question below. I trust his advice.
