Ann was born October 31, 1946 to Buford and Juanita Cochran Reed in Bald Knob, Arkansas. She spent her childhood growing up on a strawberry and cotton farm in Bald Knob, before leaving to pursue a teaching degree at the University of Central Arkansas (then Arkansas State Teacher’s College). On January 29, 1965, Ann married the love of her life, Joe Nelson Peacock. They became the proud parents of two sons, Nelson and Denver, who always remained her pride and joy. As a teacher at Farmington and Bentonville High Schools, Ann put her husband through the University of Arkansas School of Law, where they became lifelong Razorback fans. Upon graduation, the couple moved to McCrory to open the Peacock Law Firm where she served as a legal assistant, office manager and later a real estate title examiner. Ann was a passionate, proud and lifelong member of the Democratic Party of Arkansas. In 1974, she helped launch her husband’s successful campaign for the state Arkansas House of Representatives where he served for eight years. In 1978, she became one of Bill Clinton’s most ardent supporters during his race for Governor of Arkansas, remaining an energetic campaigner and successful fundraiser throughout Clinton’s career, including his journey to The White House. In addition, Ann gave of her energy, time and talent to the campaigns of Governor Jim Guy Tucker, Governor Mike Beebe, State Treasurer Jimmie Lou Fisher, Congressman Marion Berry, Senator Blanche Lincoln and numerous other Democratic candidates. In 2007, Ann proudly served on the Believe in Arkansas Inaugural Committee for Governor Mike Beebe. Ann is survived by her husband Joe Peacock of McCrory; sons Nelson Peacock (Susan) of Washington, D.C. and Denver Peacock (Melissa) of Little Rock; mother Juanita Cochran Reed of Bald Knob; brothers Carol Reed (Loretta) of Beebe and Glenn Reed (Peggy) of Bald Knob, and niece Rita Reed Harris of Forrest City. Ann was predeceased by her father, Buford Reed, and leaves behind many other family and friends. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, April 21, at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m., 304 East Third Street. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 300 N. Fakes, in McCrory. Burial will follow at Fakes Cemetery. More details are available at thompsonwilsonfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for friends to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Ann’s name. _ ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike Smith To: Greg McDonald; Rob Walker ([email protected]) <[email protected]>; John Crumbliss; Ian Albergh ([email protected]) <[email protected]>; Amy Tejral ([email protected]) <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; ([email protected]) <[email protected]>; Campbell Kaufman; Mary Streett ([email protected]) <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Cc: Mike Smith Sent: Fri Apr 16 09:26:01 2010 Subject: Just in case You can email Nelson at [email protected] or [email protected].
