We work hard to equip, educate, and motivate our customers. And in turn you work hard to achieve your goals. The hum of CompuTrainer classes is slowly fading, but the images of filled classes in the dead of winter -- everyone giving it their all despite the weather -- are still crystal clear. With big races and triathlons just around the corner, May is about taking your goals by storm. You've done the work, now reap the benefits. In this month's newsletter: * Colnago Promotion * Great events ... a Giro BBQ and Bike To Work Day * A Massage Promotion. Recovery is KEY! * New products in retail including wetsuits, swim training aids, and jerseys * Athlete result highlights * Lunchtime bootcamp ... work out, shower, and eat in under and hour Enjoy! It was a special treat for everyone in the room. It got us thinking ... what better way to celebrate the Giro than with a Colnago promo? Great idea! So ... during the Giro (May 12th - May 30th), we're offering: * 10% off Colnago bikes and frames * Free Signature Fit ($425 value) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May Events CycleLife BBQ - Sunday - 5/30 Last fall we hosted a BBQ for Octoberfest, and we had so much fun that we're doing it again, this time to celebrate the final stage of the 2010 Giro de Italia. Also, in addition to caps, ear plugs, and nose plugs, we are carrying a selection of TYR goggles [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103390687920&s=1738&e=001osbjjMg_4hVtDYxyW9SIJ1jkGDTxFjv8gOlZyTpPPqCmAof3EJmD6T1FjkWLgNiIKscAwPTfSXoVnBMUzpIk-IYFhDe-tHNDRvtTtbtdoegNM6f9ixRYsCUXlheeeKhEcIYH58GDRhgSUIrWPxQiJz5x5wkwyI1Q] including the Nest Pro(TM), Nest Pro(TM)Nano, Socket Rockets® Eclipse, and Socket Rockets® 2.0. Wetsuits 2XU continues to push the wetsuit technology envelope. The V:1 Velocity wetsuit features an industry first: High Velocity Strakes. These channels, located on the body/chest panel, improve tracking in choppy conditions, and provide additional lift in still water. Other features include concave "Forearm Entrapment Zones", and internal neoprene Propulsion Pannels located on the outer calf. Along with the V:1 we're carrying the C2 and SC3 Sleeveless. All 2XU wetsuits sport varying neoprene thickness, Roll Bar technology (adds core bouyancy), and one-piece floating zip panels (reduces restriction of the breathing motion, and increases flexibility of the back panel). Check out 2XU's microsite for the V:1 Velocity [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103390687920&s=1738&e=001osbjjMg_4hVEu2DmcorEZUzHk-7BzKjQAv4RU7DkLwnSl0EmjKwWdK_BqhXjBrAfyGMr_UX7bO3gW4An8qkEWdPjbft98kncsAYw4pgSwswz23BtcaSi5oh84malhUUAhDAVAW5qdPA=]. Assos Jerseys For the Assos fans ... a new Mille jersey. Assos engineers are great about taking feedback and rethinking their product from the ground up. The new Mille jersey uses a new fabric that is scft, wicking, and stretches, all without that shiny synthetic lyrca feel. It's an "endurance racing cut" designed to pair perfectly with the Mille short for all day comfort. Available in black and white. Rotor For those of you old enough to remember Shimano's Biopace rings, a little bit of skepticism regarding ovalized chainrings is understandable. Lingering debates aside, Rotor has made inroads with its crank systems, including outfitting pro tour riders and netting high profile podium finishes (Carlos Sastre and Cervelo Test Team). They've backed up the technology with a couple studies [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103390687920&s=1738&e=001osbjjMg_4hVIKHt3iKDZ0a2K4eJ6d_deU6UINFg84SlZKUK35ZkR6LXiOldDxvp6UEnNn9V5JklIlC3oa4A4dCSuURx13oecD32h1z1IEp6F7m8eK_mSfT7yOZKJqWaYEitM011tdvU=], one in particular showing a 3% increase in max wattage, 2% lower heart rate for given power output, and 9% less lactic acid concentration. Now Rotor has upped the ante with Q-Rings, a viable alternative to their more expensive crank systems. As with most things, you just have to try them for yourself. We now have a demo set of Q-Rings (53/39) in the shop for testing. Also available ... Rotor Stems (with slick dual thread technology) and Chain Catchers, proven in this year's Spring Classics to keep the chain on the bike. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Performance Coaching and Testing Congratulations to CycleLife athletes for their recent race performances! * CL-coached athlete and member, Jen Tetrick placed 3rd in Cat 3 in the Tour of Battenkill and then the next weekend placed 2nd in the Cat 1-2-3 SoYoCo circuit race and 1st in the Open race of the Carl Dolan Classic. * Chief Bike Fitter Josh Frick and member Michelle Harburg raced IM Utah in St. George. Michelle placed 12th woman overall and 2nd amateur. Michelle's bike split was 6th fastest on the day including the Pro's. This was Josh's 1st Ironman after years of bike racing at the area's highest levels. Despite a running injury that hampered his training over the last 2 months, Josh turned in an 11:30 and learned a great deal about the differences between road racing and Ironman. Look for a blog from Josh about his experiences coming soon! * Member Adele Fenwick placed 10th in her Age Group as USAT Duathlon Nationals in Richmond, Virginia and achieved her goal of qualifying for the World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland in September. * Performance Director, Eric Sorensen, placed 4th overall and 1st in is Age Group at the off-road (mountain biking) version of USAT Duathlon Nationals in Richmond. What do all these athletes have in common? All spent significant time on the CycleLife CompuTrainers during the winter and were able to maintain disciplined training despite one of the worst winters on record. And these are just the resutls we know about. Come on! Brag a little. Tell us your success stories. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Summer Group Rides Join us for one of our weekly staff-led group rides.
