HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MAYOR'S FIRST TERM


· Significant achievements in public safety:


o Since July 2006, 21% reduction in overall crime, 46% reduction in gun violence and auto theft, 28% reduction in homicides


o Creation of nation's second largest network of gunshot detection and public safety cameras


· Largest expansion of parks and green spaces in over 100 years


· Doubled production of affordable housing


· Created state's largest and most successful ex-offender re-entry program


· Created more educational opportunities for Newark youth through the Newark Charter School Fund and the opening of five alternative high schools for youth most at-risk for dropping out


· Launched 13 family success centers including state's first Grandparents' Success Center and Financial Empowerment Center
