Meek Democratic Candidate for U.S. Senate Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 (Please Note New Time & Location) 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM At the Breakfast Klub (in the private room) 3711 Travis Street Houston, Texas Chair: Raise or Contribute $2,400 Host: Raise or Contribute $1,000 Sponsor: Contribute $500 Friend: Contribute $250 Please make checks payable to: Kendrick Meek for Florida 111 NW 183rd Street Suite 325 Miami, FL 33169 To RSVP online please visit: http://www.kendrickmeek.com/Houston <http://www.kendrickmeek.com/page/m/5d9f5f6/ab7ba10/2b9dc98/356614ce/188 8052225/VEsH/> Or contact Yael Ouzillou at (512) 440-8791, e-mail Yael@Ryloconsulting.com MEET KENDRICK Kendrick is not your average Senate candidate. Raised by a single mother, Kendrick worked his way through college on a football scholarship and worked for tips as a skycap at the local Airport. After graduating, Kendrick served as a Trooper in the Florida Highway Patrol where he was the first African-American to rise to the rank of Captain. Meek then went on to serve in the Florida House of Representatives from 1995 to 1998 and in the Florida Senate from 1999 to 2002. As a State Senator, Meek took on Governor Jeb Bush and led a statewide initiative collecting 500,000 petitions to amend the Florida Constitution and reduce class sizes in overcrowded public schools. In 2002, Kendrick Meek was elected to Congress representing parts of Miami. Congressman Meek has worked hard to provide pragmatic solutions such as introducing legislation that protects consumers from unfair overdraft fees and sponsoring legislation to protect homeowners from predatory lenders. STATE OF THE RACE - FLORIDA 2010 Three months ago, pundits believed no candidate could be competitive against Governor Crist, however, Florida has now become one of the most watched races and one of the most important for Democrats to win. Crist has gone from sky-high poll numbers to now being neck and neck with former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio. Kendrick has cleared the primary field and is the only major Democrat left in the race. President Clinton, Senator John Kerry, former Senator Bob Graham and all of the major Florida Democrats have endorsed Kendrick for Senate. He has taken advantage of the multimillion-dollar primary mess on the other side and has built a solid campaign operation, already opening offices throughout the state of Florida. Kendrick Meek has consistently been among the top three fundraisers among Democratic Senate challengers and continued this trend in the last quarter of 2009. In a state with ten major media markets, Kendrick Meek can raise all of his money for the General Election while Rubio and Crist will spend most of their resources in one of the most contentious primaries in the country. Though Crist has a 5-1 money advantage over Rubio, Rubio just won Crist's home county's straw poll and continues to climb in the polls. As Rubio and Crist drag the Republican primary into a downward spiral to the hard right of everyday Floridians, Meek is exciting voters and taking advantage of the 800,000 voter registration advantage that Democrats have over Republicans. Contributions to this committee are not tax deductible. Federal Election law allows individuals to donate up to $4,800 per election cycle: $2,400 designated for the primary election and $2,400 for the general election. Federal multi-candidate PACs can contribute $10,000 per election cycle: $5,000 for designated for the primary election and $5,000 for the general election. Federal law requires this committee to report the name, address, occupation and employer for each individual whose contributions total $200 or more during a calendar year. Paid for by Kendrick Meek for Florida ________________________________ This email was sent to: LAHumphries@aol.com <http://www.kendrickmeek.com/page/o/5d9f5f6/ab7ba10/2b9dc98/356614c0/188 8052225/open.gif>
