Hey R.,
Just bumping up Lucy's message from yesterday celebrating one year of this incredible Lucy McBath for Congress team.
We didn't get to blow out the candles on a birthday cake... but we did come together as an incredible team of grassroots supporters, volunteers, and cheerleaders to push an underdog campaign to a history making victory.

And we want to make sure Lucy knows how much she is loved after one straight year of campaigning – that's right, she's already in a tough fight for the 2020 re-election campaign.
Running for Congress never stops, but neither does Lucy. Can you chip in $20.19 right now to show Lucy that we've got her back, and celebrate the one year birthday of this incredible grassroots team? [http://secure.actblue.com/donate/support-lucy-0319?refcode=20180310?amount=20.19]
Thanks for all that you do.

R. -- In a minute, I'm going to let you know why I need your support today to celebrate a big milestone, but first I want to explain why: [http://secure.actblue.com/donate/support-lucy-0319?refcode=20180310]
Almost exactly one year ago, I was sitting with some close friends and advisers around my kitchen table. At the time, I was already running for a state legislature seat in Georgia, but after the Parkland shooting, I knew I had to do more.
The response to Parkland in Washington had been a replay of Las Vegas. A replay of Aurora, and of San Bernardino, and of Sandy Hook. A replay stretching back almost 20 years to Columbine. I was frustrated and fed up, but at the same time I was encouraged by the response to tragedy I saw within the Parkland community -- a turn to activism. A turn to speaking up and speaking out.
I began to feel as if this was the turning point. As if responsible and common sense solutions to gun violence prevention might finally break through in Washington. In the years since my son's shooting in 2012, I testified in D.C., and in Florida, Nevada, and Georgia. I organized, lobbied, and spoke up for change. I wept with parents who suffered the same unspeakable pain that I had.
And in the weeks after Parkland, our gun violence prevention activist community was encouraged by the response from leaders almost everywhere.
Everywhere except Washington D.C.
Back to our group at the table ("the kitchen cabinet") -- we were going over final plans and edits to an announcement speech. My announcement speech. That's right R., this week marks the one year launch of this grassroots team, and our winning and history making campaign for Congress.
And what a year it has been: Three close elections, hundreds of events in your living rooms, thousands of phone calls and door knocks from this team, and millions of dollars raised made our historic victory possible. We won in a district the pundits said would be impossible. We won in Newt Gingrich's old seat.
None of this would have been possible without the grassroots superstars that have been devoted followers of my emails. Thank you for being on board with Team Lucy for an entire year, I am truly blessed and humbled to have you on my side.
So today is a day to celebrate. To celebrate women -- and a record number of women in Congress in 2019. To celebrate one year of Team Lucy -- a grassroots fundraising and volunteering force that powered us to victory.
If you can chip in a grassroots gift of $20.19 to celebrate today with us, it'd mean the world to me. Here's the best link: secure.actblue.com/support-lucy [http://secure.actblue.com/donate/support-lucy-0319?refcode=20180310?amount=20.19] .
With love,
Lucy
