Golfweek’s David Dusek is on the range at Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, scouting out players’ bags for the coolest and latest clubs and gear. Check out his photos to see what clubs the pros use (https://golfweek.com/2019/03/05/equipment-spotted-on-the-range-at-bay-hill/) , including who is hitting these ... unique? ... raw steel wedges pictured here. New Tour balls. Titleist’s new Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls for 2019 were designed to be faster and lower-spinning (https://golfweek.com/2019/01/23/first-look-titleist-pro-v1-pro-v1x-2019-balls/) off the tee without sacrificing greenside control. The latest iteration of the immensely popular balls also will be available in yellow for the first time starting this month. Breezing into impact. Cobra’s new King F9 is the company’s fastest driver yet – 12 percent more aerodynamic than the King F8 it replaces in the lineup. That combines with a newly introduced Speedback (https://golfweek.com/2018/10/30/cobra-king-f9-driver/) , which pushes weight low to improve launch conditions. Packed with performance. With its new Exotics EXS driver, (https://golfweek.com/2018/11/01/tour-edge-exotics-exs-driver/) Tour Edge aims to include as many performance-enhancing features in one package as possible while keeping the price within reach of most golfers. Looks and performance. Ping’s new G410 irons were built to have a foot in two different worlds: (https://golfweek.com/2019/01/21/first-look-ping-g410-irons/) the game-enhancing realm of clubs made for accomplished golfers and the game-improvement arena filled with clubs that make up for mis-hits and deliver a distance boost. Heading into last week's Honda Classic, Keith Mitchell was ranked 218th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting with an average of -1.107. Before the start of play at PGA National, he switched to a TaylorMade Spider X putter and finished 38th for the week in strokes gained putting with an average of 0.22. Here is all the gear Mitchell used (https://golfweek.com/2019/03/03/keith-mitchells-winning-golf-equipment-at-the-2019-honda-classic/) in his breakthrough victory: * DRIVER: Mizuno ST190 (https://golfweek.com/2019/01/08/first-look-mizuno-st-190-st-190-g-drivers/) (9.5 degrees), with Project X HZRDUS T1100 75X shaft * FAIRWAY WOOD: Titleist 917F2 (https://golfweek.com/2016/09/07/titleist-917f2-917f3-fairway-woods/) (16.5 degrees), TS2 (https://golfweek.com/2018/09/06/titleist-ts2-ts3-fairway-woods/) (21 degrees), with Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue shafts * IRONS: Mizuno MP-18 (https://golfweek.com/2017/08/07/mizuno-mp-18-irons/) (4-PW), with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts * WEDGES: Titleist Vokey Design SM7 (https://golfweek.com/2018/01/22/titleist-vokey-design-sm7-wedges/) (50, 54, 60 degrees), with True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts * PUTTER: TaylorMade Spider X (https://golfweek.com/2019/01/29/first-look-taylormade-spider-x-putter/) * BALL: Titleist Pro V1 (https://golfweek.com/2019/01/23/first-look-titleist-pro-v1-pro-v1x-2019-balls/) * GRIPS: Golf Pride Green Victory Cord ** LOOKING GOOD ------------------------------------------------------------ In honor of the King. Rickie Fowler loves to pay tribute to Arnold Palmer at the tournament the King built. This week Fowler, ranked No. 7 in the world, will wear Puma shoes featuring Palmer’s famous umbrella (https://golfweek.com/2019/03/04/rickie-fowler-to-use-arnold-palmer-inspired-puma-gear-at-bay-hill/) as well as use a bag adorned with Palmer’s signature. ** SEEN & HEARD ------------------------------------------------------------ A champion’s new bag. Francesco Molinari, the 2018 British Open champion and No. 1 on the European Tour last season, has signed to play Callaway gear (https://golfweek.com/2019/03/05/francesco-molinari-signs-endorsement-deal-with-callaway/) , the company announced Tuesday. Expect to see him playing an Epic Flash Sub Zero driver this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, along with other Callaway gear. Masters wedges. Typically during the Florida Swing, Tour pros who have an invitation to play in the Masters start to think about what clubs they will take to Augusta National. The fairways and runoff areas around the greens are notoriously tight, yet the sand in the bunkers is light and fluffy. Sharp grooves are a must, but that combination of conditions can make selecting the right wedges tricky. Several players are talking to wedge builders now and will get new clubs about two weeks before the Masters so they can play a few practice rounds with them, but they won't use them too much because they will want to keep the grooves as sharp as possible. ** LIVE COLLEGE GOLF ------------------------------------------------------------ Check out Golfweek's exclusive (and free!) final-round livestream (https://golfweek.com/2019/03/05/watch-southern-highlands-collegiate-final-round-livestream-begins-at-2-p-m-et/) of the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas so you can tell your friends "I saw him when ... " once any number of this tournament's talented players tee it up on the PGA Tour.
