On occasion, Jesus' words and stories seem to be difficult to grasp or fully understand. Not today. The difficulty with the text from Matthew's gospel as read at Mass today is that we might think it too unrealistic or impossible: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; and the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-12). Really? Are you serious? Let's try it this Lent and learn how faithful God is to these promises. But, please, do have patience. And what we need to ask for is to know what questions to ask and how to seek and to have the courage to knock. 924 G St., NW, Washington, DC 20001 | Tel: (202) 772-4300 tel:2027724300 Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington © 2019 All rights reserved.
