How big was that fish you say you caught? Come on, now. Really, how big was it? We associate Jonah of old as being devoured by a big fish and then being regurgitated onto dry land three days later. When the story of Jonah circulated centuries ago, I'm certain that ancient hearers asked about the veracity of the story. In any event, Jonah is also known for his effective preaching in the city of Nineveh. As a result of his preaching, the citizen repented and were spared from punishment. How big are the fish stories we spin in life, but more significantly, how effective are our words and our deeds in converting others to the Lord? " . . . because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Johan here."
